EAST students have spent this week reflecting on how engaged they are in class and starting projects to help our community.
The AJHS yearbook staff needs your help in documenting this school year. Feel free to submit pictures of students participating in school activities and out-of-school activities throughout the year. Yearbook pages begin being submitted to the publisher as early as the beginning of December. If you have pictures from June to the present please go ahead and submit those to Mrs. Farley at cfarley@searcyschools.org. Please include the activity/event/happening and the student's name and grade.
During lunch today, Dr. Hart stopped by to visit with AJHS students Keegan Davis, Nick Page, Rylan Cordell, McKenzie Martin, Karli Hinson, Khyle Youngblood, and Gavin Files. It is not uncommon to see Dr. Hart visiting with students on our campus.
AJHS COIN WARS! This is the LAST week of the coin wars supporting our annual Operation Home Front Toy Drive. The 7th and 8th grades are competing against each other by putting pennies and dollars in their grade's bucket to gain points and silver in the other grade's bucket to deduct points. The grade with the most points by noon on Friday will be given an ice cream party on Friday, October 13.

For Arkansas' Celebrate Freedom Week, Ahlf Junior High students hosted Mr. Justin Mercer, a local lawyer and proud AJHS parent, who spoke about citizens' rights under the law. He shared interesting examples with the students and kept everyone engaged and guessing about the outcomes. We appreciate Mr. Mercer spending his time volunteering and visiting with our students!
This week's National History Day Club meeting has been canceled. The next meeting will be Thursday, October 5.
AJHS COIN WARS! This is one of our favorite activities to support Operation Homefront! The grade that wins the war will be given an ice cream party on Friday, October 13. Coins will be collected before school and during lunch beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, September 26.

Mrs. Swindle's 7th grade English class learned about coordinate and cumulative adjectives. Each student received a brown paper sack with candy and toys. Students had fun writing sentences using these adjectives.
Any student wishing to run for Student Council must see Mrs. Glasser before Friday, September 22 to pick up the paperwork necessary to participate. 8th graders can run for President, Treasurer, Graphic Designer, and Male and Female Representative. 7th graders can run for Vice President, Secretary, Photographer, Male and Female Representative.

AJHS Quiz Bowl practice has been canceled for this Wednesday, September 13. Practiced will resume next week, September 20.
National History Day Club will begin Thursday, September 14, 3:30 - 5 p.m. weekly in room 505 unless announced otherwise. It is not mandatory to attend in order to participate in the NHD competition in January. If you cannot attend, please see Mrs. Barker ASAP for more information.
