Backbone Ridge is the literary magazine of the Searcy Public School District. Now in our sixth year of production, we publish poetry, short fiction, nonfiction, photography, and artwork from our students (K-12), faculty, employees, and alumni.

BETA CLUB - CATIE HOLMAN, SPONSOR
The Beta Club is a leadership-service organization. Its purpose is to stimulate effort and reward as well as encourage its members to continue their education after high school. Service projects may include Fall Harvest Festival, Valentines for Byrd Haven, and other community service activities.

The choir competes for honors in Regional and State Choral Festivals, presents concerts, and other singing engagements throughout the community.

EAST - KELLY MARTIN, FACILITATOR
EAST focuses on student-driven service projects through the use of the latest in technology. EAST classrooms are equipped with state-of-the-art workstations, servers, software, and accessories, including GPS/GIS mapping tools, architectural and CAD design software, 3D animation suites, and much more. Students find problems in their local communities, and then use these tools to solve them.

FCCLA is a career and technical student organization for students taking or who have taken Family and Consumer Science classes. Focusing on families and the community. Activities include STAR events competitions, community service projects, and leadership conferences.

La Société Honoraire de Français is an honor society for high school students enrolled in French and is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French. Purpose and Activities: Service oriented to build a business background of work or furthering education. Angel Tree and/or Adopt a Senior, donations for the March of Dimes, Fall Leadership Conference, as well as District and State Leadership Conferences are some of our activities.

FFA develops premiere leadership, personal growth, and career success. Activities include live stock exhibitions, leadership contests, career contests, state and national conventions, camps, and public service projects..

Special projects promote enthusiasm and recognition for those presently involved in the teaching profession and opportunities to learn and observe for those who desire to join it . The Junior Class has the responsibility of raising money for the Junior/ Senior Prom. Juniors can earn Prom Points in exchange for a Prom Ticket. Fundraisers include selling Butter Braids, working the Basketball Concession stand, and bringing in items for the spring auction. Juniors must earn 3 Prom points in exchange for their ticket.

Lion TV Club is an organization that produces video, news, and film content for teens by teens. As well as Broadcasting Searcy Sports content to the community, through its YouTube Channel Searcy High Lion TV.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY – JESSICA MARTIN, SPONSOR
Members of NHS serve as examples to fellow students in character, service, leadership, and scholarship. Service projects include, but are not limited to the Angel Tree Project, Spring Food Drive, serving at banquets and receptions, helping with SHS recycling project, and serving in the concession stand. Members will also complete a minimum 10-hour independent service project with pre-approval from the sponsors. Students are invited to join NHS after 1st semester of their Junior year.

PARTNER CLUB - SANDY WEBB, SPONSOR
The Searcy High Partner Club  uses sports to promote school communities of acceptance and inclusion. We participate in Volleyball, Soccer, Bowling, and Basketball as a unified team - joining our special needs students with our general student body.

QUILL AND SCROLL - MATTHEW BOWMAN, SPONSOR
Purpose: to encourage and recognize individual student achievement in journalism and scholastic publication. To qualify, students must be in the upper one third of their graduating class; they must have been in a journalism program for at least a year; they must be a junior or senior and be recommended by their journalism adviser.

QUIZ BOWL – RACHEL MCCREADY & AMANDA SIMPSON, SPONSORS
Quiz Bowl is an academic competition in which players try to answer science, math, social studies, literature, fine arts, and pop culture questions to win points for their team.  Requirements: Try-outs, attend meets, study practice manuals; top twelve players will be chosen to compete at the region and state tournaments.

SPANISH HONORARY – LORI NIELSEN, SPONSOR
The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (SHH) is an honor society for high school students enrolled in Spanish and Portuguese and is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. Formally organized as the Spanish National Honor Society in 1953, the name was changed in 1959. At present there are over 2,000 national and international chapters. The purpose of the society is to recognize high achievement of high school students in the Spanish and Portuguese languages and to promote a continuing interest in Hispanic and Portuguese studies. Students must have completed 3 semesters of Spanish, have an 85 or above in their Spanish class, and a 3.0 GPA to be considered for membership. Once students have become a member, they must earn 15 service points to earn a cord for graduation.

STUDENT COUNCIL – BEVERLY JOYNER & CHRISTINE EDELMANN, SPONSORS
Student Council is the link between the student body and the faculty. Members represent SHS at various school and community events. The major service project of Student Council is the SHS Food Pantry which provides food and other necessities to students in need.

YOUTH ADVISORY COUNCIL (YAC) - MITZIE CANNON, SPONSOR
The Youth Advisory Council is a group of teens who work together to raise money for their own charitable endowment. They use the proceeds from the endowment to make grants to local nonprofit organizations serving children and youth. YAC meets throughout the year to learn about philanthropy, raise money and give away grants to meet the needs of young people in White County.

YOUTH TO YOUTH - EDIE HIGHTOWER, SPONSOR
Youth to Youth is a club that is based on teens helping other teens make positive choices in life. We promote drug, alcohol, and tobacco free lifestyles. The club participates in Red Ribbon Week, fundraising activities for causes in the community, and campaigns to discourage distracted driving.
