Raney Yancey to Take Part in Envision’s National Youth Leadership Forum: Pathways to STEM
Searcy, AR – This summer, Raney Yancey from Searcy will join outstanding elementary school students from across the nation to take part in a unique academic and career oriented development experience, the National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF): Pathways to STEM, taking place in Houston, Texas.
NYLF Pathways to STEM is one of the Envision by WorldStrides family of programs (www.envisionexperience.com) that enable students to explore their interests and experience learning beyond the classroom.
Raney Yancey was nominated to attend this forum by her fourth grade Teacher, Mrs. Katie Lawson. Mrs. Lawson is currently Raney's Gifted and Talented Teacher. Raney is very active in her school. She is currently on the All A Honor Roll and has been nominated "Classroom Manager" both semesters. Raney is currently a dancer at Irby Dance Studio, where she is on the IDS Competition Team. She practices 7+ hours a week and attends multiple dance competitions spread throughout the year. Raney is a member of First Baptist Church of Searcy. She is very active in the AWANAS Wednesday night program. Raney hopes to become a Teacher, Attorney, or Social Worker in the future. She is excited to see what leadership skills she can learn during her time at camp and can bring back to improve her school. She is also excited to make new friends and learn new things!
“As an alumna of Envision myself, I am excited for Raney Yancey to meet, work, and collaborate with fellow high-aspiring students from other cities and schools,” said Amanda Freitag Thomas, SVP for Envision. “Hands down, my favorite part of attending an Envision program was being with motivated students in an environment designed to help us challenge our assumptions, meet new people, and grow. Creating that same learning environment is a central focus for all of our programs. At NYLF Pathways to STEM, students build the confidence and skills needed to excel in the classroom while gaining exposure to STEM fields and concepts. They learn how to adapt to and communicate in new situations, to new challenges, and with new people, which, given how rapidly the world is changing due to technology and innovation, are essential skills for success.”
