Westside students are being encouraged to read outside the classroom!! This year, we will be holding monthly reading challenges in September, October, January, February, and April. Students who read at least 15 minutes every night and log the title of the book read in the calendar square, will receive a free book. This can be a book they read to or with a parent OR a book they are reading independently! If it is a chapter book that takes several days to finish, that’s okay…They just need to write that same title in every square that they read from that book. Parent/Guardians must sign the calendar and have the student return it on the date given. Students will turn the calendars into Ms. Kim in the library to pick out their free book!! This is strictly VOLUNTARY to encourage our students to improve their reading skills. So be on the lookout, because September calendars are coming home next week to get started Sept. 1st!
