JANUARY READING CHALLENGE
Westside students are being encouraged to read outside the classroom!! This school year, we are holding monthly reading challenges in the months of September, October, January, February, and April. (REMINDER: January calendars are going home this week, before holiday break, so that students can start the challenge on New Year's Day!!) Students who read at least 15 minutes every night AND log the title of the book read in the calendar square, will receive a free book. This can be a book they read to or with a parent OR a book they are reading independently! If it is a chapter book that takes several days to finish, that’s okay…They just need to write that same title in every square that they read from that book. Parent/Guardian MUST sign the calendar and have the student return it on the date listed. Students will turn their January calendars into Ms. Kim in the library Feb. 1-2 to pick out their free book!! This is strictly VOLUNTARY and is being offered to encourage our students to improve their reading and vocabulary skills by reading outside of school.
