For Immediate Release
In a regularly scheduled board meeting tonight, the Searcy School District Board of Education voted to develop a district sponsored pre-kindergarten program for the 2023-2024 school year. The pre-k program will target students who may not already be enrolled in a private preschool program and who need early childhood education prior to enrolling in kindergarten. The district will offer five total pre-k classes with two at Sidney Deener Elementary School, two at McRae Elementary School, and one unit at Westside Elementary for a total of up to 100 seats. Dr. Bobby Hart, superintendent of schools, said “This is an excellent opportunity to reach out to families who may need additional support in preparing their children for the K-12 experience. We are ready to get to work and build this program.” Searcy School District will begin the enrollment process after returning for the second semester in January, and information will be made available at that time.
