Searcy School District

Searcy School District is pleased to award Kevon Poindexter The Tyler Merritt Heart of a Lion award and scholarship. The Heart of Lion award was initiated in 2003 when Coach Danny Mallett presented it to Tyler for his perseverance and “never give up” attitude. In memory of Tyler, his father, Steve Merritt, has provided a scholarship in the amount of $500.00 in conjunction with the award to a football player who exhibits the qualities of positive attitude, perseverance, Lion Pride spirit, and team sacrifice. The football coaching staff selected Kevon Poindexter as the recipient of this award and scholarship. Poindexter will be attending college at Dallas Baptist University in Dallas, Texas.
