Searcy High School Lady Lions soccer team is hoping for a recurrence of being named 5A State Champions in 2022 as they prepare to head to El Dorado on Thursday for the 5A State Soccer Tournament. What many might not know about this team is that the Lady Lions are a “family affair” for several of these young ladies.
Boasting sibling groups of 5, all eleven of these student athletes enjoy kicking the ball alongside their sisters. The families include from left to right: Kristen and Avery Tranum, daughters of Lynn and Carrie Tranum; Shelby and Gracie Webb, daughters of Jessica and Daniel Bonner; Sara, Mary, and Kate Daniel, daughters of Peyton and Amy Daniel; Avery and Chandler Meadows, daughters of Michal and Casey Cullipher; and Gabie and Lexie Eddins, daughters of J.D. and Meg Eddins.
Coach Larry Stamps remarks, “This has been such a special group of athletes to coach, and a lot of their unique qualities are directly related to the fact that these sisters push each other to do their very best each and every day.” Not only have we had a winning season, but these student athletes excel academically in the classroom and are student leaders at Searcy High School.
While we don’t know for certain if and when this will ever happen again, we can be sure that it is an unusual circumstance. We wish these sisters and their teammates the best of luck as they compete in El Dorado, and we hope to see them on the field in the finals. Go Lady Lions and Lions!
